Interview with Joy Nwaiwu

Today we welcome Joy Nwaiwu, Python developer with degree in Environmental Biology.

Hi Joy, please tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Joy Nwaiwu, with a degree in Environmental Biology. I write codes in Python and technical articles. On days when I'm not writing or coding, you'd find me reading a book, drawing, or crafting.

How did you get into programming, and when did you start using Python?

I got into programming because I was curious and wanted to learn something new. The first tech event I attended was centered around Virtual Reality (VR), it spiked my interest as I was really fascinated and the rest is history, lol.

I started using Python a couple of months ago, precisely in April 2020, when I took up a course in Bioinformatics.

Why should aspiring developers choose to learn Python?

I find Python relatively easy because of its concise syntax, so I would say it is a great start for beginners or aspiring developers.

What other programming languages do you know and which is your favorite?

So far I love Python, can't say it is my favorite though. Next up on my learning list would be JavaScript.

Which Python libraries are your favorite?

I don't have any favorites yet.

What projects are you working on now?

I am working on building a Portfolio site with Django, where I can showcase some experiences, accomplishments and write articles; PortfolioBlog.

Something else you would like to bring up?

One thing that has kept me going, especially coming from a non-tech background is having a good support system, that is; friends, family, a mentor, or individuals that encourage you and help you stay motivated.

Another thing is peer learning and tech communities, all these have helped in facilitating my growth and learning process.

Where can we find you on Internet?
